Fit To Fight! Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard 1908 - 2008

Item #: 5102
On May 13, 1908, Congress established what would become a national treasure: "Navy Yard Pearl Harbor." Through a century of conflict and change, the "No Ka Oi" Shipyard has kept the U.S. Pacific Fleet "Fit to Fight." At critical times in American history, such as the Battle of Midway, the Shipyard made the difference between victory and defeat.

Fit to Fight is the exciting story of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard's first century of service, and the men and women who made her great. This is the first book devoted exclusively to telling the Shipyard's story. It is also the story of the Shipyard's tremendous socioeconomic impact on the State of Hawaii. Illustrated with rare photographs not previously accessible to the general public, Fit to Fight provides an intriguing view of the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard's challenges and successes, historic firsts, and significant accomplishments by Shipyard workers.

Finally, Fit to Fight examines plans for our Shipyard in its next century of service, as it transforms into a 21st Century Shipyard capable of serving a 21st Century Fleet.

Hard cover. 118 pages. Black and white and color photos. Approximately 9.25" wide by 12.25" high.
